Nigerian British University Admission Requirements

Before commencing the application process, ensure you meet the eligibility criteria set by the Nigerian British University.

  • SSCE/GCE O’Level Qualifications: Applicants need to possess the required SSCE/GCE O’Level qualifications, including specific grades in relevant subjects for their chosen program.
  • Foreign Applicants’ Requirements: International students applying to the university must fulfill additional criteria such as providing proof of English proficiency through standardized tests like TOEFL or IELTS.
  • Transfer & Direct Entry Students’ Criteria: For transfer and direct entry students, submission of transcripts from previous institutions and meeting specific credit transfer guidelines is necessary.

– UTME subjects will include Literature in English and two other Arts or Social Science subjects.
3.Faculty of Business and Management SciencesB.SC in:
– Accounting
– Marketing
– Business Administration
– Public Administration
– Entrepreneurship Studies
– Political Science
– Mass Communication
– International Relations & Diplomacy
– Finance & Banking
– Economics
– Five O/Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two other Arts or Social Science subjects; except for Political Science which requires Government or History in place of Economics, and Public Administration which requires Government or Civic Education or History in place of Economics
– UTME subjects to include all relevant subjects as specified by JAMB.
4.College of Health Sciences– MBBS Medicine & Surgery
– B.NSc Nursing Science
– B.MLS Medical Laboratory Science
– Five O/Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
– UTME Subjects: The NBU prefers Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology.
5.Faculty of Engineering– B.Eng. Electrical &Electronics Engineering
– B.Eng. Mechatronics Engineering
– B.Eng. Computer Engineering
– B.Eng. Information & Communication Engineering
– Five O/Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Geography/any other Science subject
– UTME Subjects: The NBU prefers Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry

The online application form is the primary avenue for submitting your application to the Nigerian British University. Here is a step-by-step process to apply:

Step 1: Choose your desired Programme

Before diving into your application, take the time to explore the diverse array of undergraduate programs offered at NBU. Find the program that aligns with your academic interests and career aspirations.

Step 2: Choose your desired Programme

  • For Nigerian Applicants: Ensure you have at least five Ordinary Level credit passes at SSCE (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NABAIS) or their equivalent in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings. Additionally, achieve an acceptable score in the UTME in specified subjects by JAMB.
  • For Foreign Applicants: Provide your corresponding Examination Results and academic transcripts from previous high schools.
  • For Transfer & Direct Entry Students: Completing qualifications such as OND, NCE, HND, ‘A’ level GCE, JUPEB, IJMB, or any other JAMB-approved higher qualification is necessary.

Step 3: Check Admission Requirements

Ensure that you meet the specific entry requirements for the program of your choice. To be eligible for NBU’s undergraduate programs, it is essential to fulfill our entry criteria.

Step 4: Complete the Application Form

  • Fill out the online application form accessible on our Admissions Portal.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information. Review your application meticulously before submission.
  • Once satisfied, submit your application through the admissions portal.

Step 5: Await Admission Decision

Your application will undergo review by the admissions committee. Expect to receive decisions via email within a few weeks of submission. Updates on your application status and any additional requirements will be communicated promptly. Successful candidates will receive a Provisional Admission letter detailing the subsequent steps.

Step 6: Accept  Admission Offer

Upon receiving a Provisional Admission offer letter, accept the offer by following the instructions provided to secure your place in the program. Ensure to pay the designated acceptance fee as outlined in your offer letter.

Step 7: Prepare for Onboarding

After confirming your acceptance and fee payment, anticipate receiving an onboarding checklist detailing what to expect during the onboarding process and how to prepare adequately for this exciting phase.
