The National Examinations Council (NECO) just announced the schedule for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) for students in their last year of high school. They shared this news on X.com this past Monday. 

This yearly exam is a big deal for final-year high school students. It tests what they’ve learned in school to see if they’re ready for college. The exams cover lots of different subjects, from must-knows like Math and English to optional subjects that match students’ interests.

NECO 2024 Timetable

Below is the downloadable version of the NECO SSCE timetable for 2024.  Just a heads up, this timetable might change, so it’s important to keep an eye on any updates from the National Examinations Council.

Important Updates:

  • If the time listed on your question paper is different from the schedule, go by what your question paper says.
  • For exams in Physical Education, Auto Mechanics, French, Music, and Arabic, check with your local NECO State Office to find out where you’ll be taking the test.
  • If there isn’t enough equipment, some practical exams might need to be done in groups.
  • Make sure to hand out the materials for Visual Arts Paper IV to students at least a week before their exam.
  • Get the materials for welding & Fabrication, and Engineering Craft Practice to students three weeks before their exam day.
  • Materials for Dyeing and Bleaching, Photography, Painting and Decoration, Printing Craft Practice, and Leather Goods should be given out two weeks before the exam.
  • Remember that Nigerian language exams also cover literature content.
  • Albino and blind students are allowed an extra 30 minutes for each exam.
  • Blind students should use the special braille sheets provided by NECO.
  • You can use scientific calculators during the exam.
  • Don’t bring any electronic devices into the exam hall; they’re not allowed.
  • You need to take the practical exams (Paper 1) if you want a grade in those subjects.
